I started WhoAi because I couldn’t ignore a pattern I kept seeing.

Early in my career, I found myself in two very different situations: helping turn around a major global airline and working inside a fast-growing early-stage tech company. Different industries. Different strategies. But the same lesson showed up every time.

Strategy didn’t make the difference. People did.

When the right leaders were in the right roles, everything worked. Execution moved faster. Culture improved. Results followed. When the people weren’t right, even the best strategies failed to deliver.

I carried that insight with me for years. Then one day, riding MARTA in Atlanta, I looked around at all the people heading to work and asked myself a simple question:

Not just satisfied. Not just getting by. But fully engaged. Performing at their best. Doing work that truly fits.

The implications hit me immediately. Individuals would end their days feeling energized, not drained. Companies would unlock real performance. Society would reclaim an enormous amount of wasted potential.

But the reality tells a different story. Only about 20 percent of the global workforce feels truly engaged. That means four out of five people operate nowhere near their potential.

That’s not just a business problem. It’s a human one.

As I kept working with leaders and organizations, this idea grew stronger. I saw the same pattern play out again and again until I couldn’t ignore it any longer. I had to do something about it.

Because when organizations consistently place the right people in the right roles, performance improves, and more importantly, people’s experience of work transforms.
